SSFC FAQ's

What level of soccer does Saratoga Springs FC offer?

This is competitive level soccer that will include some local travel (within Utah County) depending on which division the team plays in. At this time Saratoga Springs FC doesn't offer recreation for District level soccer. Saratoga Springs FC looks to offer local soccer families an opportunity to receive high-level, age appropriate training without having to travel across Pioneer Crossing several days a week! The home fields of SSFC are located across seven local schools in Saratoga Springs and Eagle Mountain.

Why does competitive soccer use "birth year" to organize its players?

If you're new to competitive soccer, the readers digest version of how competitive soccer works is as follows: US Soccer (the national governing body of youth soccer) sorts competitive players into teams based on their birth year. So when you see "birth year", that means that your son/daughter will tryout and play with kids all born in that same year. So when we field a 2010 girls team, it's all girls born in 2010. Kids are technically allowed to roster with an older team (a 2010 birth year player can play "up" into a 2009 team) if approved by parent and SSFC coaches/administration. However, players can't play "down" into a younger age group at any time.

What is the "typical" competitive soccer season like?

Teams typically form in May/June of a year, which then starts a 12 month commitment until the follow May/June. For 14 year-old teams and below (which will constitute the majority of SSFC teams), teams will play a "fall season" until late October, and then will have a four month break over the winter. Some teams will choose to play indoor soccer or Futsal during these months, but this will be determined by each team and its coaches. Teams will then resume a "spring season" from February/March until May.
